Lumiere London on the South Bank

Starting on Thursday 18th to 21st parts of the capital will be transformed by a magnificent and imaginitive display of light designed by international and national artists.  Transfiguring familiar landmarks and architecture, it is a sight not to be missed!

Why not come early?  Drop in and see us while darkness falls, grab something to eat and then watch Eye Love London - the Coca Cola London Eye as it illuminates the South Bank in a incandescent fanfare of light.  Alternatively, bring your children down for the day and start off with a visit to Sea Life, followed by Shrek's Adventure pop in to Southbank Printmakers (we have chocolate) then hop accross to Bernie Spain Gardens for the Bottle Festoon.

A Lumiere London highlight is just around the corner from us on the Riverside Walkway.  The Wave, an installation of 40 triangular interactive gates that respond to your presence (and everybody elses!) allowing you to participate first hand in a piece of art.

Christmas at Gabriel's Wharf

A Festive Person dressed in a red boiler suit with a white beard will be roaming around Gabriel's Wharf on
2nd December.  There will be a tree, live music and an all-pervading air of celebration. We will be adding to the general bonhomie with our own mulled wine and snackettes and some special treats for our smaller visitors.

By then we will have rehung the entire gallery and will be including some very reasonably priced small prints which make ideal presents as well as gift vouchers and highly original greetings cards courtesy of our artists.

It would be fantastic to see you there and we look forward to sharing our Christmas cheer with you..............

two upcoming exhibitions!

61 Westminster Bridge Road, London SE1 7HT
Tuesday 31st October – Saturday 11th November 2017
Private View Wednesday 1st November 6 – 8 pm

We welcome you to these two delightful exhibitions housed under the same roof - namely the Morley Gallery - an excellent venue indeed.  Here you can see the work of some of our most celebrated printmakers - Yoonjung Shim is showing two exciting images - her 'Crossword' and  an evocative picture of the Tate Modern. Peg Morris treats us to a glimpse of her 'Salt Marsh'.  Sue Ribbans brings out the evil 'Circe'.  Anyone who has done the four day stopover in Iceland will welcome another sight of Liz Whiteman-Smith's 'Geysir'.  Jennie Ing is showing her 'Barbican Towers' - simply described as a linocut, but I know my efforts do not yield this result!  Julie Sullock treats us to one of her liquid screenprints - 'Feather'.  Richard Peacock has interpreted what some might see as the grimness of concrete as a myriad of colour. cleverly named 'Concrete Poem' and last, but most definitely not least, comes Theresa Pateman's 'Neon Swimmer' - a depiction of glorious movement and colour incorporating the random and difficult technique of spitbite.

Since publishing this, Melanie Bellis has sent me two exciting images.  Her 'Oxo Tower' is part of the Mini Print exhibition and 'Two Cranes' is to be included in Print City.

A treat for all!  We hope you will join us at the Private View - or just drop in when you can.

Urban Art July 8th & 9th Brixton

Three of our members are exhibiting at this amazing open-air event on the weekend of 8th and 9th July.  Centered around Josephine Avenue, you can enjoy work of huge diversity and the same can be said of the prices!

Martin Langford will be there.  His Image 'Ride of your Life' won the People's Choice Award at the Royal Society of Painters/Printmakers this year, and 'Nucleus' has been chosen by the Urban Art team for use in their advertising. Congratulations Martin!

We are happy Theresa Pateman is participating again this year.  Her fresh quirky images are very popular and many of you will know her work from the Royal Academy. This year she has been focused on the production of exquisite 3-D theatre models but has managed to find time to make some new and wonderful work. I.e this emotive depiction of the Oxo tower seen from Gabriel's Wharf.......

Last, but certainly not least, is Julie Sullock with her exciting non-objective vibrant and colourful images.  We love her painting -

'Red Stripe'
and her print....................

'Four Dots'

It will be a wonderful way to spend a Summer weekend (we pray for good weather) so please put it in your diaries! Entrance is FREE

We're back!!!

We have had a fabulous makeover at Southbank Printmakers and have reopened after our exhibition at the Oxo Tower.

We have moved the back wall, laid a new wooden floor, rearranged the browsers, tidied up our clutter and given the walls a lick of clean white paint.  The result is a cleaner, smarter more welcoming space with better access for visitors. Do come down and see us and tell us what you think.

There's lots to do on the Southbank during the summer. Jeppe Hein's water sculpture 'Appearing Rooms' returns..........

..............as does the seaside in central London, with the urban beach by the side of the Thames.

There are plenty of pop up bars and cafes, a weekly food market in Southbank Square and the beautiful oasis roof garden on top of Queen Elizabeth Hall where you can have a drink whilst watching the sun go down over London.

So make a day of it and treat yourself, or someone else, to an original print created by one of our artists.  Jane Stothert's work is featured from tomorrow for 3 weeks. Lovely images to complement a Summer's day!
